Learn how this small dedicated team overcame incredible resistance to change and gained state-wide support for the Freedom to Breath Act that eliminated smoking in public buildings. Their role is to build grassroots support for new policies that increase the health of all Minnesotans. Biography Janelle Waldock is the Director of Public Policy and Prevention Advocacy at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. Janelle leads policy advocacy efforts to reduce tobacco use and obesity rates in Minnesota. Before joining Blue Cross, she worked at the Hennepin County Community Health Department, the Minnesota Smoke-Free Coalition, and the University of Minnesota, School of Public Health. Janelle holds a Master’s of Public Administration from Hamline University and a Master’s of Science from Mankato State University.
