Presenter: Al Watts, Consultant and OD Practitioner

Program Overview

We underestimate integrity.  We are accustomed to thinking about it in the context of moral and ethical business behavior, but only one of Webster’s definitions of integrity speaks to that.  The other definitions, about being “whole, unbroken, sound and unimpaired,” speak more to matters of organizational health and effectiveness.  In its fullest sense, then integrity yields what Al Watts calls “triple-e” organizations: ethical, engaging and effective.

We hear a lot about integrity these days, or lack of it, but few have what Noel Tichy recommends every leader (and we would add every OD practitioner) should have: a clear teachable point of view on it.

Come to our November 9 meeting where Al Watts will share his point of view on integrity and how to position it as a powerful organizational strategy. His Organizational and Leadership Integrity Model is based on nearly thirty years as a consultant to organizations and their leaders across private, public and not-for-profit sectors, and is the centerpiece of his new book: Navigating integrity – Transforming Business As Usual into Business at Its Best.

In this program Al Watts will lead us in conversations about how to help organizations and their leaders navigate four critical integrity challenges: Identity, Authenticity, Alignment and Accountability.

  • Why integrity is a fundamental driver of effective, ethical and engaging organizational cultures
  • Ways that failures to navigate Identity, Authenticity, Alignment and Accountability integrity challenges contributed to the 2008 economic meltdown and how to avoid future failures
  • Examples of how organizations and leaders successfully navigate the four integrity challenges and ideas for integrating those practices in your or client organizations
  • Ways to assess how well your organization or your client organizations and their leaders navigate critical integrity challenges and how to help close integrity gaps
  • How application of Organizational and Leadership Integrity Model principles can enhance your personal and professional life.

Al Watts of inTEgro has nearly 30 years of experience as a consultant to leaders and their organizations across all levels of private, public sector, closely-held, for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.  Clients include health systems and hospitals, universities and colleges, numerous physician and professional practices, federal, state, county and municipal agencies, private foundations, and a variety of manufacturing, financial and technology organizations.

Ten years ago Al started focusing on what practices of organizations and leaders not only increased effectiveness but also distinguished them as ethical and engaging.  That focus resulted in the Organizational and Leadership Integrity Model, inTEgro’s Leadership Integrity Survey  and Organizational Integrity Survey, and publication of his book Navigating Integrity – Transforming Business As Usual into Business At Its Best.

Before his consulting career, Alan served 10 years in private industry.  His responsibilities included managing training and development, general employee relations and professional-level recruitment.  He has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota (Business, Psychology and Communication), and completed graduate coursework in Organization Development at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. He served as President of the American Society for Training and Development in Minnesota, charter President of the Minnesota Human ResourceExecutive Forum, Adjunct instructor for local colleges, and board roles for several community organizations. You can learn more about Al and inTEgro’s work at
